The Health Promotion Team is a student organization that is part of the Schiffert Health Center. We educate the Virginia Tech student body about health and encourage people to adopt healthy lifestyles.

Activities such as displays, informational speeches, booths, and special events are held each semester. We regularly visit Residence Halls (dorms), Sorority and Fraternity Houses, and provide programs all around campus. Some of the areas we work on include HIV/AIDS, Eating Disorders, STD's, Contraception, Skin Damage Prevention, Tobacco Use Prevention. We've clothed thousands of VT college students (in cotton, sunscreen, and latex). Our programs are designed to be fun and educational. If you've met a 6th grader from Blacksburg Middle School, he/she will tell you how much they love the HPT (we do antismoking education and T-Shirt Distribution there every year). Yes, we are the ones responsible for the "Non-Smoking Hokie T-Shirt" Campaign.

In addition we give short educational talks all over campus. Go Ahead, you know you want to schedule an event with us. How about a 10-minute talk? Students always want Safer Sex/STD Booths (plenty of freebies too). Do your residents or organization members know about all the new methods of contraception that came out in the past two years? Let the HPT teach them about it.

Every spring we accept new members for the following academic year. The next time we will be interviewing is the Spring of 2009 (for the 09-10 Team). Admission into the program is competitive. We will post information here in February 2008.
