Intravene Travel Clinic
If you are a Virginia Tech student or staff/faculty member who needs travel vaccines and/or prescriptions. Please fill out the Intravene form. Intraven will call you when the form has been processed. Intravene provides a full range of travel medicine services at a reasonable cost to anyone associated with Virginia Tech, including students, faculty, staff, spouses, and other family members. Travel services, including vaccines and medication prescriptions, are not available at Schiffert Health Service. If you call Schiffert Health Center for travel questions, you will be referred to Intravene.
Intravene provides the following:
-
Current general and destination-specific travel information and recommendations, including travel advisories.
-
Information on required and recommended immunizations based on travel destination(s).
-
All needed immunizations for travel. Timing is important because some vaccines take weeks to become effective in protection against particular diseases. Calling the week prior to departure is too late for most immunizations.
-
Prescriptions for recommended or needed travel medications, including malaria prevention, altitude sickness, and traveler's diarrhea. Malaria medicines are country-specific and are started prior to departure.
Call 1-877-947-3902, ext 2172. Intravene is located in the Health and Safety Building; however, it is not open everyday. Intravene has specific hours and days of operation; so to make appointments and get information, calling is necessary.
