Pharmacy Waiting Room

The pharmacy at Schiffert Health Center provides students who have paid the student health fee with prescribed medications. The pharmacy is headed by registered pharmacists who dispense medications and offer instruction on the proper use of prescribed medication while also providing printed drug information. The pharmacy fills basic medications from the Schiffert Health Center drug list. In addition, birth control and contraception are available for purchase. Over-the-counter drugs are offered through our self-care cold clinic as a convenience to our students. For more information read the Pharmacy Information Handout (PDF | 41KB).

The pharmacists at Schiffert Health Center are available for consultation and are available to answer questions about your prescriptions.

To contact the pharmacy, call 540-231-8103 or send an email to healthcenter@vt.edu.

Fees

There is a nominal charge for all medications dispensed from our pharmacy. All bills and payment are done through Accounts Receivable and receipts are given for each charged item. Students have the option of paying at Schiffert Health Center with cash, check, or Hokie Passport. Monthly billing is listed as “Pharmacy Service” and items purchased are not listed.

How are prescriptions filled?

New prescriptions written by outside practitioners must be taken to Medical Records for ID validation. Students may bring other prescriptions to the pharmacy to be filled while they wait or they may leave prescriptions and pick up the medications later. To obtain prescription refills, students need to bring the prescription number (label) or their Hokie Passport to the pharmacy. Patient medication information handouts are available upon request.
